It seems that nobody recalls being outraged over no singleplayer campaign in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, as news broke that the game raked in more than $500 million in the launch weekend, which is an insane result for what are just 3 days.

That's not where good news stop though since the game also broke the franchise's record for combined players, average hours per player and total numbers played in this generation of consoles. Basically, it's already positioning itself among the best performing Call of Duty titles to date.

Along with the performance comes viewership as well and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 quite expectedly racked up the sort of Twitch numbers that are easily the highest yet. Activision's executive vice president Rob Kostich said, "Our viewership on Twitch has set new standards and is showing just how fun Blackout is to play and to watch".

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's great performance brought about a higher player count in Blackout, Zombies and standard multiplayer than in CoD: Black Ops 3. Nevertheless, the latter still won the opening weekend tussle, having earned $550 million in the same time frame.

Interestingly enough, even though Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 quickly climbed to the top of UK's , it did so with significantly lower sales compared to WWII and Black Ops 3. In fact, it's said that it lags behind them by 50 and 59 per cent, respectively, with the slowest start since 2007's CoD 4: Modern Warfare.

We guess it's safe to chalk those off to the simple fact of digital distribution platforms taking over, because the new CoD sure doesn't seem to be lacking players. Either way, as much as these records often include mangling of internal metrics, they're definitely a good way to wash away Infinite Warfare's pitiful performance.
