Call of Duty Warzone players have found code inside the game files, referencing various pre-order additions for Call of Duty 2020, including a cross-gen version, which suggests next-gen upgrade won't be free.
With the introduction of Season 5 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, the reveal of the next Call of Duty game looks to be imminent. Players are already reporting weird glitches during matches and have found multiple editions of the next Call of Duty in game files.
As you can see from the screenshot below there are Standard, Cross-Gen and Ultimate editions of the game, which will be available for pre-order inside Warzone.
Now, the Cross-Gen Edition is an interesting one since it suggests that this year's Call of Duty is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X too. On top of this, it appears that the next-gen upgrade will not be free or support Xbox Smart Delivery program.
Instead, Activision could copy 2K Games and offer this Cross-Gen Edition at a higher price but with two versions, both for current-gen and next-gen on the same platform family. As always, since this is not official info, take it with a grain of salt just like any other rumour.
Call of Duty 2020 should release sometime later this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and PC as well as next-gen consoles.
