"With Borderlands 3's April 23 'Mayhem 2.0' update, Mayhem Mode will benefit from a number of improvements designed to offer a more varied, lasting, and rewarding challenge", Gearbox wrote.
Many of the changes were made based on community feedback, which almost automatically means some frustrating things are getting the boot. One of them is the need to visit the pedestal on Sanctuary III - activating Mayhem Mode or adjusting the level can now be done via a new tab on your Echo Device menu.
Borderlands 3's Mayhem 2.0 offers more than 25 fresh modifiers, divided into Easy, Medium, Hard and Very Hard difficulties.
The new Mayhem's Easy modifiers include Big Kick Energy, which boost your damage at the expense of recoil and spread, and Galaxy Brain, which makes enemies' heads bigger.
Once you're out of the Easy modifier territory, you're slowly entering the world of pain. One of the Medium modifiers, for instance, is called Floor Is Lava, which is pretty self-explanatory. Hard modifiers get even worse, like Drone Ranger, which spawns Healing Drones for the enemy.
Gearbox said they'll let Borderlands 3 players find out the rest of the modifiers on their own, so we'll have to find out the ones marked Very Hard on our own.
They also provided the following table, explaining that modifiers are selected at random, but their numbers and difficulty ratings remain the same for each Mayhem level.
Gearbox reminded players that the quality of weapons improves as you get through the levels, which should help you tackle the following one.
If you're hunting for Legendaries, however, you should know that there are eight new ones that you can only get from certain bosses in levels 6 or higher. One of these is the Sand Hawk, a Legendary sniper that fire nine bullets arranged to look like a hawk in flight.
You can find the announcement on the official Borderlands 3 website.
