Gearbox have just streamed the latest episode of The Borderlands Show, where they showed off Arms Race, new skill trees and a few more features coming with Designer's Cut to Borderlands 3.
Borderlands 3: Designer's Cut launches on November 10, 2020, as part of Season Pass 2, but it can be purchased as a standalone addon.
"Arms Race is hosted by two fan-favorite former Vault Hunters turned ECHOcast commentators: Axton and Salvador! These Borderlands 2 bros host the galaxy's premier reality murder show and you're their next all-star contestant", Gearbox wrote.
Borderlands 3's new mode takes place in a new zone called The Stormblind Complex, which is a pretty large decommissioned DAHL military base set in a hidden corner of Pandora.
The mode has players stripped of all the gear, action skills and passive abilities, and dropped into the new zone. Once there, Borderlands 3 players need to grab as much gear as they can and get it to extraction points before the base is destroyed by Murdercane (short for murder hurricane).
Fallen co-op allies can be resurrected at designated respawn points, but if the entire party drops - the Arms Race run is done. Borderlands 3's new mode is all about gunplay, so no vehicles or anything, but the experience should be sufficiently hectic that it feels like a proper ride.
With the update, Gearbox are also pushing Mayhem Mode to 11, courtesy of the community's relentless requests. "This update, available to all players, lets you experience Mayhem 10 difficulty and loot without any of the Mayhem Modifiers, with slightly lower drop rates as a tradeoff for the mildly reduced challenge", they wrote.
