Battlefield 2042 performance on PC can drop quite significantly after the latest Windows 11 updates

EA and DICE have finally shared an update for Battlefield 2042 post-launch plans, confirming that the game will be getting scoreboards and VOIP soon. However, Season One won't be coming until Summer.

DICE have finally started talking about Battlefield 2042 and their plans for the game's upcoming content, fixes and updates. In today's blog post, the devs have detailed a lot of things but also shared some bad news about the Season 1.

Battlefield 2042 Upcoming Updates

Scoreboards - Coming in the next update with two tables separating the player team versus the enemy team. K/D scoring and end of Round reporting will also be coming in a future update.

VOIP - Voice communication will be available across all platforms. DICE say this is just the start of the improvements they're implementing to enhance team play and communication.

Player Profile - A feature to give players a better overview of their performance in matches and their progress towards the next unlock.

The highly-anticipating Season One has been officially delayed to Summer 2022. Its launch will mark the start of a year where DICE plan to deliver four Seasons, four new Specialists and maps with new content.

As an apology for the delay, players who own the Year 1 Pass will receive an exclusive bundle containing a Specialist skin, weapon and vehicle skins, a melee weapon and Player Card, all to be delivered in the next update.

Feedback loop

Interestingly, EA DICErevealed that they will be more transparent when it comes to fixes and updates moving forward. The team will present the major focus areas to players to get feedback and then come back with decisions they've made for improving that particular focus area.

The first focus area will be map design. DICE say they want to outline their vision for map design to players to get valuable feedback and address the issues of map openness and lack of cover in key areas.

All in all, this does feel like a step in the right direction. Whether it's enough or not, time will tell but at least the development team have a clear plan on how to improve the game and be more transparent when it comes to updates.
