TomorrowHead Studio's Unreal Engine 5 narrative adventure WILL: Follow The Light arrives in the first half of 2026 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The developer today also announced an open playtest (pretty much a demo) on Steam, which will give players a chance to try the game before purchasing.
Open playtest and community feedback
The demo will be available on December 19. It's a PC-exclusive demo that will offer 40-60 minutes of gameplay, providing a substantial sampling, which tells us the devs are pretty confident in their title.
TomorrowHead Studio completed closed playtests with over 500 players recently, refining mechanics based on community feedback before this wider public release.
"We couldn't have made it this far without our community's feedback," explained founder and game director Roman Novikov. "We're into the final stretch now, and we hope players will enjoy trying the game ahead of launch next year."
Players can register for the open playtest through the Steam page.
A lighthouse keeper's desperate journey
If the game looks appealing to you, here's a bit more info: Players control Will, a lighthouse keeper whose routine shatters when radio messages reveal disaster struck his hometown and his son has gone missing. Determined to find him, Will sets sail aboard his yacht "Molly" through harsh northern latitudes, facing environmental challenges and uncovering mysteries across land and sea.
The game is a story-driven first-person adventure, some would probably call it a walking sim, with authentic sailing systems and dog sledging through snowy wilderness, alongside puzzles rooted in real-world navigation. Players will chart courses using weather stations and lifelike navigation tools instead of following quest markers.
WILL: Follow The Light targets the first half of 2026 for simultaneous cross-platform launch. The December 19th playtest provides an early assessment opportunity for players curious whether TomorrowHead Studio's narrative adventure delivers on its atmospheric promises.
