Even though Titans were one of the features that was planned to make its way into Apex Legends, it seems that the plan has been cancelled for the same reason it didn't make it in the initial release - balancing them is nigh impossible.
Unfortunately, McCoy dismissed the idea, indicating that the feature has been abandoned for the same reason it didn't make it to the full release.
Speaking to Game Informer, McCoy said, "Titans were created back in the day as a power item. As a sense of I am now a badass, don't mess with me. That fantasy fulfilment is destroyed immediately in battle royale once you've balanced them to a point where they don't ruin battle royale."
Respawn made it no secret that they'd love to add some staples of the Titanfall franchise to Apex Legends, most notably wall-running and Titans, but it just messed with the existing concept.
Discussing the attempts to balance Titans, McCoy said, "We could never pull enough levers – how you get it, how strong it is, how fast it is, how big it is, what kind of weapons it has, when do you have it – all that kind of stuff. So I think for now, Titans are just not a thing. We're no longer considering it."
So there you have it, if you've been hoping for some mecha mayhem in Apex Legends, you'll have to make do with Pathfinder, because Respawn won't be wasting any more time on trying to make Titans fit.
Additionally, the studio will have their hands full with the upcoming of Apex Legends, and considering the criticism they got for the game's maiden season - we're fairly confident they'll want all hands on deck for the second one.
McCoy also told Game Informer that game streaming and the added latency it produces aren't quite suited for the fast-paced gameplay of Apex Legends, although some players are likely to find it acceptable.
