Apex Legends Season 28: Breach launches February 10, celebrating the game's seventh anniversary with major updates including Legend reworks and ranked mode adjustments

Apex Legends Season 28 Breach launches on 10 February with Legend reworks, destructible environments, Ranked updates, and anniversary rewards. Here’s what to expect.

Respawn Entertainment and EA have revealed several changes coming to Apex Legends in Season 28. Titled Breach, the new update will launch on 10 February and is also celebrating the game’s seventh anniversary.

Naturally, there’s every reason for developers to go big with the next chapter. Spoilers from the latest patch notes suggest bigger changes are on the way too. Legend reworks and ground changes among the listed changes, signaling a shakeup of both casual and Ranked Seasons gameplay while keeping Apex recognizable.

With Ranked balancing, sound effects, and anniversary rewards on the horizon as well, Season 28: Breach has the potential to be one of Apex Legends’ biggest Seasons in years.

Biggest Apex Legends Season 28 Changes

Destructible Hardlight Mesh Explained

Season 28’s splashy new feature is Hardlight Mesh, a new destructible window being added to many buildings around the map. Like Rockwell glass, Hardlight Mesh offers players momentary respite behind it, but eventually these windows will give way if shot at enough.

Key Highlights

  • Hardlight Mesh breaks after taking enough damage
  • Weapons/abilities get increased damage against Mesh
  • Controller-Class Legends will have the ability to repair Mesh, opening new defensive possibilities

Mesh adds another strategic layer when it comes to mid-to-late game circles, where every bit of cover can play a huge role in winning a fight.

Fuze Rework Takes Centre Stage

Fuze is also getting a lot of love this season. The Engineer is getting a Abilities revamp that moves his kit more in-line with what players are looking for in the current meta.

Other things we know:

  • Bloodhound is getting buffs
  • Catalyst is receiving buffs
  • Further details on all Legend balance changes will be shared on February 6.
Ranked Mode Adjustments

If you play Apex Legends competitively, you’re going to love Season 28. The dreaded Dropship is returning to Ranked matches. This means Ranked will officially play almost identically to how it does in ALGS tournaments.

Earlier this season, Respawn tried out some alternative means of dropping players into games. Despite this, they have reverted to the old system.

Additional Season 28 Updates

There’s a lot more going on in Season 28. Between new seasons and Apex hitting year 7, there’s a lot of cause for celebration. Other changes coming in Season 28 include:

  • Improved Bot Royale lobbies
  • Advanced audio settings
  • Completely free 7th year anniversary rewards track for everyone

Between some subtle yet impactful balance changes and some serious gratitude for the community, Season 28 Breach is giving Apex Legends a much needed refresh.
