Apex Legends Season 21 is online and so is the new addition to their currency system with the introduction of the Exotic Shards. These shards provide players with the opportunity to get some new unique optimization chances for their Apex Artifacts and other items available in the Exotic Shop.
Exotic Shards are a new unique currency introduced in Apex Season 21 by Respawn and EA, that allows players to get special customization options for their Apex Artifacts and items found in the shop.
And if you want to know more about this addition, how to obtain them, prices and what can players use it for, we got you covered.
How to get Apex Exotic Shards
There are a few ways to obtain these shards. Exotic Shards can be obtained by completing Battle Pass milestones, specifically at Tier 89 in the Upheaval Battle Pass.
If that doesn’t work, they can be purchased directly from the in-game store, using the Apex Coins. Additionally, developers have hinted at future in-game events and Battle Passes offering more opportunities to earn Exotic Shards.
Exotic Shards Pricing
- 10 Exotic Shards: $9.99 or £8.99
- 40 Exotic Shards (+10 bonus): $39.99 or £35.99
- 80 Shards (+30 bonus): $79.99 or £69.99
In terms of utility, Exotic Shards can be used to acquire items from the Apex Artifact sets, with each item costing minimum of 10 Exotic Shards. In addition, players can use Exotic Shards to purchase Legendary Weapon skins from the Exotic Store with each one costing 50 shards minimum.
It's important to note that Exotic Shards are not the same as theHeirloom Shards, which are required for purchasing Heirlooms or Mythic Skins.
In order to have the chance to access the Apex Artifact sets, such as the Molten, Cobalt, Gladius, Rhodium, or Electrum Katar set, players must first get the Cobalt Katar heirloom for 150 Heirloom Shards.
