Season 21 of Apex Legends addresses what the previous season lacked for many fans by introducing the new Legend, Alter. However, the existing Legends won't be overlooked, as the new patch introduces several changes.
After the release of the Upgrade system in the last season, this season makes further tweaks to those upgrades with the aim of making the meta balanced and stable. So continue reading to learn all the adjustments made to Legends on Season 21.
All Legend Buffs and Nerfs On Apex Legends Season 21
Regarding Legend balancing, Crypto receives a minor buff, with enhanced in-game upgrades for improved drone handling, recon, and reduced cool-down times to retrieve his drone.
Newcastle’s Tactical, his Mobile Shield, now deploys quicker, and his Ultimate, Castle Wall, will destroy projectiles during its initial energised phase (upon deployment and for a short period afterward).
Ash's Arc Snare, her tactical ability, will now be deployed from her offhand. This allows her to keep firing her weapon while throwing out her snare.

- Now cast with the left hand
- Does not stow weapons or disrupt consumable use when activated
Phase Breach
- This new ability, inspired by some Alter technology, highlights nearby enemies for players who travel through the Void.
Ballistic
Whistler
- The damage from a planted smart bullet has been increased to 10 (previously 5).
Upgrades
- Care Package Insight has been removed
- NEW Sling-Shot: Upgrades Ballistic's base sling weapon to blue at Level 2 and to purple at Level 3
Bloodhound
Beast of the Hunt
- Cooldown increased to 4 minutes (was 3 minutes)
- Knocks while Ult is active no longer extend its duration
Upgrades: Level 3
- Tactical Cooldown has been removed
- Taste of Blood now grants 50 HP on knock (previously 25)
- NEW Long Hunt: Knocks extend the duration of Beast of the Hunt
Catalyst
Piercing Spikes
- Cooldown reduced to 20 seconds (from 25 seconds)
- Long Cast upgrade is now part of the base Tactical
Dark Veil
- Dark Veil's length increased to 45 metres (from 40 metres)
Upgrades
- Long Cast has been removed
- Long Veil has been shifted to Level 2
- NEW Ferro-Door: Passive ability can now fully rebuild and reinforce missing doors
Caustic
- Gas damage and slow effects now stop as soon as Caustic's squad is eliminated
- Gas damage now ramps up from 4 to a maximum of 10 (previously 5 with no upper limit), while damage to knocked players is now a consistent 4 (previously 5)
Conduit
Radiant Transfer
- Cannot target Revenant while Forged Shadows is active
- When Revenant activates Forged Shadows, any temporary shield generation stops instantly. However, any temporary shields generated before activation will be retained.
Upgrades
- Battery Collection: Removed
- NEW Battpack: Allows up to 3 Shield Batteries to be stacked per inventory slot (does not stack with Gold Backpack)
Crypto
Neurolink
- Network Traffic upgrade is now part of the base kit
- Squadcount banners are always visible when the drone is deployed
Upgrades: Level 2
- Tactical and Ultimate cooldowns have been removed
- Network Expansion is now a Level 2 upgrade
- NEW Quick Ping: Faster drone handling with improved acceleration and deceleration
Upgrades: Level 3
- NEW Satellite Imagery: Drone scan lasts 1.5 seconds longer
- NEW Hackathon: Drone cooldown is halved and Revenant gains a speed boost when his Ultimate is used or the drone is destroyed
Fuse
Upgrades
- Big Bang has been removed
- NEW Ring Master: Grants access to Ring Consoles
- Scar Tissue:Damage mitigation simplified and enhanced, eliminating residual burn effects
- Receive a flat 20 damage when passing through The Motherlode, instead of the previous 37 (which was 50% of 75 hp) over time
- Fixed issue where explosive damage mitigation was not applied on successive Knuckle Cluster hits (should now only take around 32 damage from a full Knuckle Cluster with Wreckless)
Newcastle
Mobile Shield
- Throw animation speed has been increased; now it is about 2.5 times faster
Castle Wall
- The Castle Wall will now destroy incoming projectiles approaching from the front while energised.
- It won't destroy projectiles from behind the wall or bombardments from other Legends' Ultimate abilities.
Upgrade
- Stronghold's total energized duration has been increased to 3 minutes (previously 2.5 minutes)
Octane
Upgrades
- Wreckless has been removed
- Mad Hops is now a Level 2 upgrade
- Thick Skin is now available at Levels 2 and 3, with a revised effect of reducing Stim damage by 5 points per level (previously a -25% reduction)
Wattson
Upgrades
- Falling Stars: Pylons no longer generate Arc Stars when her squad is eliminated
- Split Circuit: Shield regeneration capacity is no longer reduced
Wraith
- Into the Void and Dimensional Rift will highlight nearby enemies for players travelling through the Void.
