Another Apex Legends season is fast approaching and Respawn prepared a set of changes that should tighten up the Ranked experience on each end of the skill spectrum.
As usual, the new season of Apex Legends' Ranked mode means we get to take a peek at Season 7 stats, which is a good indicator of the playerbase's overall skills.
So, Respawn tracked all players in Split 2 who played more than 5 hours of Ranked, adding Season 6 stats in brackets for comparison. We went ahead and dug up Season 4 and 5 stats as well, for some Apex perspective.
Of course, extracting patterns from the existing data isn't exactly scientifically sound considering that each season brought its own, often hefty changes to Apex Legends Ranked. That said, the game's player count and playtime was higher than ever before, so the stats staying relatively stable is pretty great.
Respawn announced that as of Season 8, the Predator rank has been expanded to include top 750 Apex Legends players.
Apex Legends Ranked will award placement RP to the top 13 instead of top 10 players. The Kill/Assist count is up to 6, with the Assist Threshold increased from 7.5 to 10 seconds after dealing damage.
Respawn claim the goal is to amp up the players' RP earnings, as well as provide returning veterans with less sweaty means of reclaiming their earlier ranks.
Last but not least is the answer to Diamond players' prayers, and they should be matched to their tiersmen much more often.
