Just when you think Epic have done it all, they come out with another curveball, although this time it's Fortnite that's crossing over into Batman's territory.
Well, technically, it's Batman who'll be doing the crossing over when the six-issue miniseries titled Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point launches in April, but you know what we meant.
As we've come to expect from the dev, this is no cash-grab gimmick - Epic and DC are preparing a proper multimedia experience where one can never tell when the comic ends and the battle royale begins.
"Each print issue of Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point will include a redeemable code for bonus DC-themed Fortnite digital items, inspired by the events in the comic, starting with the new Rebirth Harley Quinn Outfit. US Subscribers to DC UNIVERSE INFINITE will receive the series for free, including the bonus digital codes. Fans who redeem all six codes will also unlock a new Armored Batman Zero Outfit for their Fortnite character", DC wrote.
The two will be simultaneously releasing Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point in North America, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Spain and the Czech Republic, and we're talking about native language translations, codes and everything.
Fortniteographers should not be disappointed either, as DC stressed they intend to reveal some secrets about Fortnite you may not have been familiar with.
"When DC first approached me about doing a Batman/Fortnite series I thought it would be a lot of fun”, said series writer Christos Gage. ”After speaking with [Epic's CCO Donald Mustard] and discovering just how deeply we'd be diving into the secrets behind the world of Fortnite, I was amazed! This series will reveal things about Fortnite that have never been seen or heard before yet are very much part of the canon of the game.”
