Respawn's latest change in the Apex Legends arena has to do with armour, and while Evo Armour isn't going anywhere, the armour values are being reverted. And it's for a good reason too.
According to the dev, ever since Apex Legends was conceived, there was to be a healthy accent on strategic positioning. In other words, getting the drop on someone should give you an advantage, and this is where Evo Armor changes interfered.
"This started to swing the battles more than we liked, and good players were able to outplay teams more consistently, even if the enemy had worked for a much better position. By lowering the armor values, we felt we had adjusted for the Red Armor availability more than anything else", Respawn wrote.
That's not to say that the dev pushed out these changes willy-nilly - it's just that testing it in a room of developers and mass-scale application sometimes don't produce the same desired result. This has been one of those times and even though Respawn said they'll continue experimenting, they also stressed they'll listen to players and correct things when they don't work.
Apex Legends got a few other changes as well, starting with the one you've been hearing across the map - Rampart's Boom. Yeah, the No Mercy finisher will no longer entertain the whole server.
Rampart's actually the most of this update, as Sheila caused issues from server crashes when destroyed while being used by other players, to Crypto's drone not detecting them. Interestingly, heirlooms took more hits to destroy amped cover walls.
Also fixed were a few glitches with Replicators and the combination of Sheila and Gibraltar's Dome Shield that let players shoot out.
