Alter became the 26th Legend added to the Apex Legends roster with the launch of Season 21 on Tuesday, 7th May 2024. While details about this enigmatic Legend are scarce, one thing is clear: she's the first villain introduced to the game since Revenant's arrival in 2020.
This fun-loving yet chaos-causing Void Breacher is set to bring fresh levels of mayhem to Apex Legends. Her designation as a Skirmisher class reflects her aggressive and confrontational playstyle. You can unlock Alter for 12,000 Legend Tokens or 750 Apex Coins
All of Alter's abilities in Detail
Here are all of Alter's abilities:
Gift from the Rift (Passive)
Alter's Passive ability, Gift from the Rift, lets you spot deathboxes through walls and retrieve one item without stopping. While it's not as extensive as Loba's Black Market Boutique, it's quite handy, particularly when you're escaping from other squads and need a quick Shield Cell or Med Kit to stay in the fight.
Though you're limited to one item per deathbox, you have flexibility in what you choose. As long as it's in the box, you can pick it and take it with you.
Void Passage (Tactical)
Alter's Void Passage lets you create portals that can bridge through various surfaces like ceilings, doorways, or walls for quick traversal or surprise attacks. You and your squad can travel through these portals, but there is a brief moment of vulnerability when exiting.
You won't automatically teleport—you need to interact with the portal to use it. You can shoot the portal up to 45 metres away, and it can penetrate through surfaces up to 20 metres thick.
This limits travel through thick mountains but is ideal for setting ambushes, especially if you target buildings, placing the portal on a roof to drop in on enemies.Keep in mind that both friends and enemies can use the Void Passage, so when setting up a portal, be aware that you might get unexpected visitors.
Void Nexus (Ultimate)
Alter's Void Nexus allows her to set up a Nexus that acts as a teleportation point anywhere on the map, letting her and her squad return to it at any point, provided it hasn't expired or been destroyed. This ability is useful for quick escapes from tight situations, especially if you engage an enemy squad and realise it was a mistake.
However, note that each squad member can only use Void Nexus once. The workaround is that if you've used your charge but a teammate hasn't, you can teleport with them when they use theirs.
Just like with Void Passage, enemies can also use the Void Nexus, and they can see it on the map. This means they could either follow you through or set an ambush at the device's location, so be cautious when using this ability.
Given how dynamic Alter's abilities are, many assumed she might be “weakened with the split update.” We'll have to wait and see how Respawn manages Alter's balance, and if that’s even necessary.
