Xbox love to announce stuff at The Game Awards (TGA) show. We got the world premiere reveal of the Xbox Series X console back in 2019 along with the announcement of Hellblade 2, following the Perfect Dark and Hellblade 2 gameplay trailers in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
So yes, it's safe to say that Xbox recognises TGA as one of the biggest gaming events of the year which is why they will probably have some surprises this December too. So, here are some of the games that Xbox could showcase at TGA.
Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2
This one is easy given that Ninja Theory already revealed two trailers for Hellblade 2 at The Game Awards 2019 and 2021. Last year, we got to see the incredible gameplay footage, and if Hellblade 2 is to appear at TGA again this year, we would expect even more raw gameplay and perhaps even a release date.
Hellblade 2 is rumoured to be launching in late 2023. It's coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Compulsion Games' Project Midnight
Project Midnight is reportedly a dark fantasy third-person action-adventure currently in the middle of development at Compulsion Games. It's not expected to launch soon, so Xbox are probably unlikely to show it this December.
However, there's a slight chance we get to see a CGI teaser that would showcase the mood of the story and world as well as confirm the official title.
The Coalition's next game
Gears of War studio The Coalition are rumoured to be working on a new IP, which is a smaller game, as the team is getting to know the new tech, in preparation for the next big Gears game.
The team revealed an impressive tech demo last year, which could be using some of the assets from their next project. This mysterious game was rumoured for a 2023 launch which is why we might see it at TGA.
Avowed gameplay reveal
It's been a while since we've heard about Avowed, Obsidian's next big RPG. Xbox fans were expecting to see the game at Xbox Showcase this year but sadly, that didn't happen. If the rumours about the game's targeted late 2023 release date are true, Xbox could finally give us some footage at TGA, since they now love to announce games that launch within the next 12 months.
Avowed is one of the most anticipated Xbox exclusives and recently, we got to see the first in-game screenshot of a very, very old build.
InXile's Project Cobalt
Another unannounced title that Xbox could finally announce is Project Cobalt from Wasteland developer InXile. Cobalt is an ambitious AAA FPS RPG, rumoured to be set in a steampunk world.
We don't know much about this one but it does seem that the release date is a bit far away, perhaps in 2024 or even later, which is why it's unlikely we see it at TGA. However, a short, Fable-like CGI trailer is always possible so fingers crossed.
