The talents are skills of Where Winds Meet, and that could be the simplest explanation. As you do quests, discover the world, or do many activities, you'll gain Enlightenment Points (a fancy name for XP), and once you have enough of those points, you'll gain a level, and each level will give you one talent.
Talents can be obtained as rewards for missions and various activities as well, so each time you gain a new talent, the game will inform you by popping the talent icon in the lower part of your screen (it is a very robust, unmissable pop-up).
How many talents are there in Where Winds Meet?
Since Where Winds Meet is an MMO title and will receive many upgrades in due time, the current number of talents to unlock is definitely not final. However, as things are right now, you can unlock 38 talents in total.
To unlock a talent, you must either press the prompted button (start button on your controller) after you earn the talent, or you can pause the game, enter the 'Develop' tab, and choose 'Talents'.
Which talents to prioritise?
Unfortunately, this will be impossible in Where Winds Meet since the game doesn't offer a choice here, because the talents are set in linear order, meaning you must unlock one to make the other one available, so pretty much everyone will be forced to unlock the talents in the same order.
Some talents do branch, however, but only to enhance the effect of the parent talent. For example, if a talent unlocks critical damage enhancement, the branching talents, which are optional, will unlock a critical rate or a precision rate.
Talent Types
There are three types of talents in Where Winds Meet: basic talents, arena talents, and boss talents.
- Basic talents - unlocked with talent points gained through basic levelling or obtained as mission and exploration rewards.
- Arena talent - unlocked with arena talent points gained by participating in the arena (PvP events)
- Boss talents - obtained by defeating bosses in certain ways winning certain challenges
What skills can be unlocked with talents?
Talents unlock special skills like Wind Senses (you can sense enemies through walls and other obstacles), mystic arts, mystic art slots, weapon imbues (fire, poison, water), and other enhancements like damage boost, critical hit boost, and many more.
