Side quests in Where Winds Meet, the latest open-world action RPG from NetEase Games, usually pack a set of different puzzles that can be quite easy and straightforward, or they can be very difficult and even punishing, depending on the puzzle and on your puzzle-solving abilities.
A side quest called Blind to the World features a couple of puzzles to solve, and they can get really hard, especially if you don't pay close attention to the hints provided by the game. If this quest and its puzzles pose a challenge for you, we have a guide to help you with that.
Where to find the Blind to the World side quest?
The Blind to the World side quest is located inside the first game area and not so far from the starting point. Open up the map and locate the Crimson Cliff teleport stone; it can be found near a lake directly to the south of the wayfarer location in this area.
Once you make it to the Crimson Cliff, you'll meet with Uncle Tian, and after speaking with him, the side quest will start, requiring you to activate three levers inside the lake to dry it out. There is nothing particularly complicated about this task; all you need to do is follow the quest objectives, and that's that.
The First Puzzle - Pressure Plates
Once the water is gone from the lake, you'll have to solve the first puzzle to proceed further into the dungeon where the end of the quest takes place. There are several hints you can read scattered around the big statue, so go ahead and collect them if you like.
Once you read all the hints, and using the hint from Uncle Tian's letter, you'll have to figure out in which order you'll need to step on the pressure plates to activate them. Long story short, if you don't want to bother, the easiest solution is to step on the big plate first, which will activate four smaller ones.
Once the plates are highlighted, step on the one located behind the Moon Goddess statue's back and then step on each plate in clockwise order. Once all are activated, the melody will play, which will open the nearby door. Do not mess the order up if you don't want to get zapped, and depending on the difficulty you play on, maybe even be forced to start over from the last checkpoint.
The Second Puzzle - Shooting Bells
Once you get past the newly opened door, follow Tian until he stops in front of a corpse. You can do some investigation here if you want, but what you have to do is go through the corridor full of hanging cloth - or are they feathers? I'm not entirely sure. Try not to touch the cloth/feather stuff because it can randomly set you on fire.
Once you get past this corridor, you'll come to a broken drawbridge. Here you can take two paths, one by jumping straight over the drawbridge, or the one to the right through deep water. Both paths lead to the same place, but the one through the water will get you some good loot, provided you want to bother with oxygen management stuff.
Once you come to the destination, you'll come across the next locked door. To open it, you'll have to solve another puzzle, and this is a tricky one, to put it mildly.
To solve this puzzle, return to the place where the drawbridge collapsed - exactly behind your back - and you'll see a mechanism you can interact with overlooking the door. If you press the button, the bells will ring in a certain order, and to open the door, you'll have to replicate the correct order by shooting the plates with the arrows.
However, once you do it, the door will stay closed, so what are you doing wrong? You might enquire. Well, if you read the hint from the letter, you'll notice that Moon Goddess was blind, and she depended on hearing rather than seeing things.
Look around and spot blue flowers close by. Step on them, and you'll temporarily lose sight, but the hearing will intensify. Go ahead and press the button now and learn the correct order. If you look from left to right, the correct bell order is three, four, one, two.
Wrapping Up the Quest
Once you hit the correct sequence, the door will unlock. Open the door and enter the area with the Moon Goddess inside. After following several exchanges with Uncle Tian, interact with the goddess to finish the quest. You'll notice that you must present two quest items to be able to wrap it up and leave the area.
Go down the right staircase inside the goddess's private quarters and pick up the letter, the knife, and the flowers from there. Now, return to the goddess, present her those items, and the quest will be done. Doing this quest will give you a new Mystic Art called Blinding Mist.
