Blowing up Derelict Dam in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is one of the first puzzles you will encounter early in the game. Here is how to solve it without too much trouble.
If finding all kinds of numerous collectables in games is your thing, then Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the game for you. Although finding collectables in the latest EA 's action adventure is a pretty straightforward job, from time to time some puzzles will require additional thinking effort.
Early on in the game, you'll run into a puzzle involving blowing up Derelict Dam to increase the tar level and open a way towards finding your old friend Greez.

How to blow Derelict Dam
Once you reach Derelict Dam for the first time, you will notice huge walls made of tar, and if you check your map, you will notice that these tar walls are red, meaning you cannot access those pathways yet. Ignore them at first and continue following the objectives.
After quite a detour, you will find yourself on the other side of the tar wall, only this time DB-1 will approach a machine and unlock the bombs that will roll towards you and explode if you let them get too close to you.

Once the bomb starts to roll, use the Force to pull it to you, aim it towards the tar wall, and then launch it on the wall using the push ability. This will destroy the wall, opening the path to the dam. Be aware, though, that the bomb will explode if you wait too long to force-push it.
Now, return to the bomb machine and let another bomb chase you. Lead it outside towards the tar-trapped platform and use the same bomb-throwing strategy to destroy the tar and set the platform free. Repeat the same method, but this time let the bomb chase you all the way to the dam. Destroy the dam with a bomb; this will raise the tar level, opening a new path to progress further towards Greez.
