Accessing red-bordered doors and red chests inside Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is yet another mystery that will require time and patience to be revealed. In this guide, we will show you when those secret areas will become accessible.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is, much like its predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order , heavily influenced by the "Metroidvania" design, meaning many areas will be inaccessible in the game's early stages until you find the required upgrade or equipment that will grant you access to those areas.

As soon as Cal crashes into Koboh, he will come across many areas that simply cannot be accessed, no matter what you try. Some new players, especially those unfamiliar with this design, will try to find a way inside those areas, thinking that the solution might be hidden nearby.

One such restriction will be shown in the form of red-bordered doors (and red chests with antennas). In this guide, we will show you when and where you will gain the ability to access those doors or chests and pick up all the loot hidden behind them.

As you might have guessed, the ability to open the red doors or red chests will be unlocked much later in the game, after more than half the story is done, to be more precise.

During the story mission that will take place inside the Fogged Expanse, Cal and BD-1 will find themselves inside the crashed imperial ship, and to progress further, BD-1 will upgrade his arsenal with Electro Darts, the special weapon that will allow him to jolt nearby generators.

Overcharging those generators will let Cal access previously inaccessible areas and sometimes even serve as a weapon, which will remove the solid ground beneath the enemy's feet, sending them into a flying death. Once you find these electrically locked doors or chests, always look for the blue generator hidden closeby.
