URF mode is returning to Summoner's Rift on League of Legends. Riot announced its return with Patch 14.3 on February 7th and it will be live till March 11th.
Every year when URF mode becomes active, there are always a few champions that are just annoying to deal with as they exploit the low cooldowns of URF and make the game unbearable if they get fed.
So, if you are looking forward to playing some URF mode rounds, and haven't played in that mode before, you should look into what champions to ban during the Champion Selection Screen.
Champions in URF you don't want your enemy to use
Ideally, you want to ban champions that have too many crowd-control and high-damage single-target abilities. Other than Teemo and Karthus, here are our recommendations:
Top Laners:
- Fiora: Fiora can be a nightmare for you if she falls into the wrong hands. Her abilities allow her to dodge and evade other champion's abilities at the same time dominate you in lane with her Ultimate and gap-closing abilities.
- Gangplank: If you ever had your health bar getting halved as soon as you get into lane by Gangplank's barrels then you already know why this pirate is on this list.
- Nasus: Nasus and Veigar are the only two champions that have infinite scaling. So during URF Nasus can just collect stacks with his Q and go full defensive build to become an uncontrollable doggy without a leash.
- Singed: Singed the fart machine can infinitely spam his Q on URF and be an absolute menace in the top lane.
Mid Lane:
- Sylas: Do you know the worst feeling ever? Having your ult stolen and then getting destroyed by it. So why Sylas is here is self-explanatory.
- Xerath and Azir: The reason these mages are on this list is because of their long-range, high-damage damage spamable abilities.
- Fizz: This Atlantean fish in the right hands can dodge almost any ability in the game and at the same time become unforgettable. Also with his R+W+Q combo, you can say he's pressing SHIFT+ DEL on you.
- Malzahar: Laning against a Malzahar in URF is a frustrating experience. And once he reaches level 6 he locks you in place and sucks the life out of you all the while his Voidlings feast on you like a bunch of starving piranhas.
Bottom Lane:
- Yumi: Unless your teammate is playing Yumi, you should probably ban it. Why? because this little kitty becomes annoying to deal with especially after it reaches level 6 and singlehandedly stuns and immbolizes your entire team.
- Leona: Leona is one of the stickiest champions in LOL already. And with lowered cooldowns, she is impossible to get rid of and escape from.
- Ashe: Ashe may be a simple ADC but thanks to URF, she becomes a machine gun that slows and mows you down while you desperately try to escape.
- Rakan and Soraka: Both of these supports are annoying to deal with when they are spamming their abilities. Their constant healing and shielding combined with CC abilities make them a pain to deal with.
Jungle:
- Shaco: If there's ever a ban list for URF, I can promise you that Shaco is on that ban list. Shaco alone can tilt an entire enemy team and make them question their existence in this world.
- Hecarim: Hecarim becomes an unkillable speedster that causes menace all over the map. He moves so fast that it often feels like he is teleporting across the map effortlessly.
- Nunu: Do you know the worst thing about URF Nunu? The fact that he can just waltz into your JG, steal your buffs, and leave with a smug look on his face while he runs away with his huge snowball.
- Nocturne: Noncturne can be a literal nightmare for players because he has CC immunity as well as an ultimate that causes a global blackout!
A few honourable mentions: Veigar, Lux, Morgana, Karma, Le Blanc, and Kassadin.
