Larry is an explosives expert with a bit of a habit and a series of unfortunate events that saved his life. You can solve all of his problems if you really go for it.

Mercs in Jagged Alliance 3 can become really expensive to maintain if you have two or more squads and the mines that have an expiry date will not be able to sustain them all for long.

Thankfully, Haemimont added some free mercs you can recruit on top of the IMP one and Larry is one of them.

This man has been through a lot as you will discover on the road to reaching him but we will try to avoid spoilers and only get into the details how to get him on your roster.

Recruiting Larry in JA3

Before going for Larry, you may want to make a quick detour to Fleatown Flea Market and meet Lalee Leewaylender with five Tiny Diamonds in your pocket. Use all five to get loot boxes and one will contain a dose of Metaviron, keep it in your inventory.

Upon obtaining the miracle medicine, proceed to Camp Savane in the nearby sector F7. Clear out all the enemies but beware of a high number of mines in the lower area of the map, in the middle of which you will find Larry.

Larry can barely put coherent sentences together though and will request a dose of Metaviron to cure his amnesia. Hand it over to him and you will have a new recruit that doesn't cost anything on a weekly basis.

Despite Larry's high proficiency with explosives and fairly good Medicine stat, his usefulness is hampered by the marksmanship stat which is horrendous but you can fix this as well by getting him sober. Just visit the Sanatorium which is marked by the Hospital icon directly east of Fleatown.

When you arrive there, you will be able to start a new Operation about treating addiction. Go for it and choose Larry. The operation is fairly short and when it wraps up, he will have removed his helmet, his speech is far less blurred and he can actually hit the wide side of a barn now.
