Destiny 2 included one weapon that is native to Solstice of Heroes 2022 with perks geared for PvE so here is a rundown and a few combos you might want to try out.

Something New is the 120 RPM Hand Cannon that's awarded for participation in Destiny 2 's latest edition of Solstice of Heroes. Its ironic name set aside, this weapon brings interesting perk combos which are pretty awesome in PvE and one that can be useful in PvP.

PvE rolls

In PvE, Barrel perks don't matter that much but you might want to fine-tune your weapon. For better ADS time or better recoil control, look for Arrowhead Break or Chambered Compensator in the first slot. Mind you, Chambered Compensator reduces Handling so it's going to be worse ADS time in favour of better recoil control.

For Ammunition, I would highly suggest Appended Mag or even Extended Mag since you will see a lot of overflow, thanks to Dream Works.

In the First Perk slot, Feeding Frenzy easily stands head and shoulders above everything else so if you're looking for the perfect roll, this is it. While Dream Work will overflow and reload the magazine, it only works once per reload so you will want to get that done as quickly as possible.

Second Perk slot will be a competition between Headstone, Demolitionist and Multikill Clip. Take the first one if you are looking to integrate Something New into your Stasis build, Demolitionist to further minimise reload times while keeping your grenade topped off even without a dedicated Exotic and Multikill Clip does really well in combination with Feeding Frenzy.

PvP rolls

Once again, Barrel and Ammunition perks don't have to be perfect to make the weapon viable in PvP but if you are looking for the best choices, it would be:

  • Fluted Barrel
  • Ricochet Rounds
  • Ensemble
  • Harmony

With this roll, you are not going for maximum possible range because your life will be miserable due to all the Scouts and Pulses you might accidentally take on. Instead, this perk set will make Something New into a mid-range beast that two-taps enemies frequently.

Grab a shotgun in your second weapon slot, which will allow you to quickly take down an enemy, provided you can hit the side of a barn with it, at which point you can swap to Something New and take full advantage of Harmony, allowing you to kill enemies in two headshots. The only exceptions here will be Guardians with seven or more Resilience, who will still need the third shot.

Ensemble will compensate for the weak 120 RPM HC stats, allowing you to quickly ADS, as long as you don't stray away from the allies too much, which is a great thing to have in 3v3 modes - as long as people stick together, they will have the opportunity to gang up on the dummy that thought he could 1v3 and left his teammates in Narnia.
