Perun is now one of the best PvP assaults in Caliber as this operator has become a glass cannon.
This means in the right hands, he can erase entire teams before they get a chance to react, which can make him invaluable in any PvP scenario.
If you are not sure about what to build on him, here is a quick rundown with a few tips on how to use him.
Perks
I will avoid mentioning the linear perks since there isn't any choice about taking them.
- Level four - HP +5
- Level six - Ability activation cost -20 SP
- Level seven - HP +5
- Level nine - Health restoration on any kill (+8 HP)
- Level 11 - Piercing Shots upgrade (+50 per cent reload speed)
- Level 13 - Zarya-2 upgrade (impact flashbangs)
- Level 14 - Basic Slot 2 reserve increase
At level seven, you might be tempted to grab the cooldown reduction for Piercing Shots but it is not worth losing the five HP as Perun needs every bit of health he can get due to low pool overall and having just one armour plate.
Level 14 upgrade is mostly so you can always keep Snug Fit active.
Skills
- Hemostatic Serum
- Snug Fit
- Heavy Barrel
- Vengeance
The first skill is self-explanatory - Perun has low HP so this thing increases it.
Snug fit allows you to bring medkits along. If you use the sidearm speed buff to sprint around the map, you will never run out of stamina. You will need to be more conservative in Showdown though, due to less time to regenerate at the start of the round.
Perun's weapon is very easy to control so Heavy Barrel is basically free damage with no downside.
Vengeance makes sure you can survive a bullet or two if your first victim shot you. When it stacks with the level nine upgrade, it will restore 23 HP per kill when an enemy shot you before they died.
Reserves
- Medkits
- Armour plates
With medkits, Vengeance and the Piercing Shots upgrades, you will find yourself topped off more often than not.
General usage tips
You are very squishy with Perun so always play around cover unless you get a flank on the enemy team and have Piercing Shots up. At that point it is too late for them. On that note, Piercing Shots make everyone else squishy as well but your DPS isn't that good when it's on cooldown so make sure you have it before every engagement.
Always use the sidearm to sprint around since it maxes out your run speed.
Zarya-2 flashbangs won't stun enemies after the impact upgrade but it makes it very hard for them to aim. Do not strafe in opposing directions because you will run into their line of fire. Pick one side and strafe that way, they won't be able to keep up.
Make sure to disable the fire rate upgrade at level six since it converts your Piercing Shots to a single-shot firing mode.
Counters
Perun counters anything that doesn't inherent damage reduction, like the target of Shersheret's Link or Yingzhou's bubble. These things can throw a wrench in your works so be careful when those effects are present in a match. That said, even beefy enemies with shield and high HP can't withstand your high DPS so just pop the ability and spray them them.
Rein can shut your ability down. If he manages to do it, you are almost certainly going to lose the matchup. If you encounter a problematic Rein, reserve the flashbangs for him to even the odds.
Faro, Corsair and Plut have high DPS by default. If you don't pop the ability, they will always beat you. If the ability is up, you should always beat them.
Piercing shots is highly precise even in hip fire so try to use it to strafe faster.
