Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has officially sailed into free to play waters and not only that - Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment's game also got a battle royale component called Danger Zone, which offers solo, duo and three-man play.

Valve recently made Counter-Strike: Global Offensive free to download and play with bots, leaving its most popular modes reserved for paying customers. Now, however, it's going full free to play and can be downloaded by anyone.

As for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's battle royale mode Danger Zone, we're talking about 10-minute matches on a map called Blacksite. It supports up to 18 players in Duos or Trios and 16 players in solo play.

The mode sticks to the mechanics and gunplay found in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. "However, since Danger Zone players can have up to 120HP, they may survive encounters that would otherwise be deadly", Valve wrote.

Danger Zone players will be scouring for equipment, money and special deliveries from above, trying to outgun the rest. There's more to the mode than just fighting each other - taking on different missions or rescuing hostages can turn into an advantage.

Players will rely on personal tablets in-game, upgrading their detection or radar jamming capabilities to improve their changes throughout the match. Danger Zone's resources won't be plentiful though, so as to make things more interesting.

Danger Zone players will be able to administer Medi-Shots, which recover health and provide temporary speed boosts too. C4 can be planted anywhere and Valve already challenged players to get creative with it.

To make Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's new mode as interesting to the community as possible, Valve rolled out the Danger Zone Case, a collection of 17 community-made weapon finishes. The designs range from sleek and clean to rusty and grimy, covering a wide array of styles.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's existing players, the ones who bought the game for actual cash, will be getting commemorative Loyalty Badges and their accounts upgraded to Prime Status. Additionally, they can unlock a souvenir MP5-SD skin by playing Danger Zone matches, but make sure you do so before 09 January 2019.
