GOG is running a promotion that allows players to claim an additional copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in case they own it on another PC platform.

Has anyone recently mentioned Geralt and you felt like reinstalling The Witcher 3? Is your copy on Steam and you are sharing the library with someone so either of you have to take a pause while the other one plays? This is one of the inconveniences with Steam library sharing that GOG doesn't have issues with, thanks to the DRM-free nature of the games on their store.

Technically, there is no DRM on The Witcher 3 on Steam either but you still can't play games from the same library at the same time, which is something that's possible on GOG. If you happen to have issues with that, grabbing a free copy of The Witcher 3 on GOG might be right up your alley.

There are a few hitches with the promotion though, so let's quickly go through them.

First of all, you will need to link whichever library you have The Witcher 3 on with GOG Galaxy. The eligible libraries include Steam, Epic Games Store, Origin, Xbox and PSN. Yup, the console libraries qualify, so if you wanted to try the game on PC but didn't want to purchase it again, this is a great opportunity.

Second, it's important to know the difference between the regular edition and the GOTY one - the latter has the two fantastic expansions included. The copy you get on GOG will be equivalent to the one from your previous library, so if you have the regular edition somewhere else, it will not become GOTY on GOG.

Unfortunately, if you purchased the regular The Witcher 3 and then the expansions separately, you will still not qualify for the GOTY edition.

This promotion will end on June 23, 2020, at 11:00 AM UTC. If you have any other questions, you can consult the official FAQ for more info.
