Apex Legends, the free to play battle royale from Respawn Entertainment is now available for download. The news came as a surprise in the announcement livestream, effectively meaning the game had no marketing except an earlier leak.
Respawn Entertainment have announced that Apex Legends is already available for download on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Those who are going to play the game on PC shouldn't be too worried, as the system requirements seem really low for a battle royale game. The requirements below are taken directly from the game's Origin page, but it remains to be seen just how well Apex Legends can perform with a GT 640 and 6GB of RAM.

- Memory: 6GB - DDR3 @1333 RAM

- Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection
- Hard-drive space: 22GB

Apex Legends will be class based, or more like hero based. Heroes in this game are called , and each legend has three abilities - one of which is a passive, one active and one ultimate. This aspect of the game is a doubled edged sword, as each legend's abiltiies bring depth to the game, but it limits character customisation as players cannot creat their own. Then again, this didn't pose an issue to Fortnite so far.

Considering that the game has a similar vibe to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout mode, except it features what seems like a deeper and more innovative battle royale system so far, it could pose a serious threat to Activision's annual release. It remains to be seen whether this will be an adequate response from EA, following the failure of Battlefield V, as Respawn Entertainment have seemingly pulled out another great shooter out of their sleeve.
