Xbox Series X|S was the number one platform in the United States for the month of June 2021 in terms of dollar sales. June 2021 was also the biggest June ever in Xbox brand history in dollar sales.
Xbox and Bethesda E3 showcase was probably one of the best shows that Microsoft put together over the last several years. The event was packed with surprises and most importantly it had plenty of gameplay, which is something that many Xbox fans wanted to see after last year's show, which was pretty much packed with CGI trailers.
Anyway, the showcase definitely helped the brand and the sales data for the month of June in the US perfectly illustrates that. Xbox Series X|S platform was the number one console in the United States for the month of June 2021 in terms of dollar sales according to industry-tracking firm The NPD Group.
On top of this, last month was the best June ever for the Xbox brand in terms of dollar sales, besting the previous high set in June 2011. That's quite an achievement and certainly something that Xbox should be proud of. It also serves as a perfect example that Xbox is slowly but surely coming back to trade blows with the industry's biggest heavy hitters like Sony and Nintendo.
Of course, the E3 showcase was only one factor for such a successful month. Xbox Game Pass is another strong reason to buy the console. The subscription service is often branded as the best deal in gaming and with new games coming each month, it certainly makes Xbox Series X|S one very tempting console.
However, keep in mind that Nintendo still beat Xbox in unit sales and PlayStation 5 remains the fastest unit selling console hardware platform in U.S. history, but if Microsoft continues doing what they have been doing lately that race could become much closer in the near future.
