Xbox app on PC is far from an ideal launcher with many missing features that are available on other PC storefronts like Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG. However, Microsoft said a couple of times that they are bringing many improvements and features to the app on PC and very soon, members of the Xbox Insider program on PC will get to test some of these new features.
Here is the list of some of the biggest additions to the Xbox app on PC:
- Faster and more reliable downloads
- The option to manually select an installation folder
- Access to local game files (an option that will allow modding on Xbox app games)
- More tuning options for Auto HDR feature
- Cloud gaming tab added to Home

At the moment, there is no specific release date for this update but given that Xbox Insiders will soon get to test these features, it's safe to assume that we won't have to wait for too long for the update to arrive.
PC players will certainly appreciate the effort but this should be just the beginning for the Xbox app on PC, which, even with these new features is still behind other PC storefronts. Hopefully, that will change with time as Microsoft put more focus on PC gaming moving forward.
