Vermintide 2’s characters will have "Overwatch-style super abilities". The roster will remain the same as in the previous game. Different careers will offer different bonuses and players will be able to swap between them after missions.
Fatshark's Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is scheduled for an early 2018 release, but until we have an actual date to look forward to, news about the upcoming game's characters will have to do. As we recently found out, Vermintide 2’s characters will have "Overwatch-style super abilities" unique to the career paths they choose to follow.
The character roster, however, will remain the same. You'll have to choose between Bardin the Dwarf, Victor Saltzpyre the Witch Hunter, Kruber the Knight, Sienna the Mage, and Kerillian the elf. Each hero will have a choice of three ‘careers’ that determine the way they play.
To give you an example, Bardin can choose to be a slayer, which will increase his damage output. Choosing the Ironbreaker career will make him more of a tank. Kerillion can be a shade, a career that will enable her to be like a teenage girl and do more backstab damage. Kids are mean.
Each career will come with a passive ability as well as a "super-ability" that charges up much like Overwatch's Ultimates. Careers will also affect your character's personality, and some offer ways of acquiring a new weapon. A bunch of talents will be at your disposal and you can use them to add damage to your tank or more armour to an assassin. These talents can be reassigned at zero cost.
Game director Anders De Geer said that the team "[wants] people to try different builds out,” and hopes that the system will encourage new players to ease into the game with one build before developing another.
