Exactly two years since its launch, Forza Horizon 5 is getting microtransactions. The developer Playground Games confirmed the news in the latest blog post, revealing that players will now have the option to spend real world money on cars in-game.
So how does this work exactly? Well, there's a new store item called the Autoshow Car Voucher which can be purchased with real-world money. You can then spend the vouchers on any car that is available at the Autoshow.
Playground Games said that Autoshow Car Vouchers can only be spent on the Autoshow cars, meaning that you won't be able to spend them on Festival Playlist reward cars or Car Pack cars.
Here are the prices of the Autoshow Car Vouchers in Forza Horizon 5
- 4 Cars for $4.99
- 10 Cars for $9.99
- 24 Cars for $19.99
For more info on vouchers, Playground Games have released a detailed FAQ on the official website.
It's worth noting that Forza Horizon 5 always allowed players to spend real-world money on cars but only through DLC-like packs that featured a specific set of cars. Now, it's possible to buy pretty much any car from the game's library, which may be a bit controversial to some.
We doubt this is going to be a big talking point as Forza Horizon 5 really awards players with piles of in-game money that can be spent on cars so you don't really have to spend a dime of real-world currency to get a car you like.
