According to Ubisoft, there will be no new Assassin's Creed in 2019 because they will focus on supporting Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, in the same manner they intended to skip a year for supporting Assassin's Creed: Origins, and then didn't.

Plans for Assassin's Creed: Odyssey include more content during 2019, along with further updates which will apparently take enough of studio's time to warrant zero additional Assassin's Creed entries for the entire year. Such a development plan was initially announced with Assassin's Creed: Origins, but Odyssey came along a year after because the games were being developed at the same time, according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.

Since the two development teams will no longer be available for developing two separate games as one will apparently be dedicated to supporting Odyssey, there will be no "full fledged Assassin's [Creed] next year". Guillemot added that there will be no spin-off games either even though the main series will take a one year pause.

Instead of a new game, Ubisoft will focus on adding "lots of content" that will come to Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. According to Guillemot, the team's goal is to provide enough new content, on regular basis, in order to immerse players "for a couple of years" into Odyssey.

He also supported the decision to stop the yearly Assassin's Creed launch schedule and give Ubisoft's teams enough time to reinvigorate the series, stating it was worth it as "the community that got back in with Origins will be amazed". Sure enough, it sounds like run of the mill promotion for the game, but there might be some truth to Guillemot's words as Origins has previously been well received by critics and players alike.

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is set to launch on 05 October 2018, simultaneously for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox one. Pre-orders are available, but as always, we encourage players to wait for reviews and more gameplay examples before shelling out the money.
