Syberia 3 is now available on Steam for Europe. North American release will happen on 25 April. The reviews of this much anticipated and frequently delayed game, however, are not favorable.
Syberia 3 by Benoit Sokal was first announced way, way back in 2012. Since then, the game was delayed several times so the developer can get a chance to add some "more depth". After the last delay (from 2016 to 2017) we got some good news in early February this year: Syberia 3 now has a set . Sounded too good to be true.
And it was. Today, Syberia 3, a continuation of the franchise and Kate Walker's story, saw the light of day. That light proceeded to shine bright and then quickly fade into a feeble glimmer.
Microids
The official release trailer on Microids' YouTube channel looks more like a badly voice acted lip-sync than an actual launch trailer for an anticipated game that got delayed several times already to ensure everything was up to par. You can cringe for yourself if you scroll up a tad.
The game is a sequel to a point and click adventure title that sees the female protagonist, Kate Walker, go from a corporate lawyer to an adventurer who is not afraid to brave the elements to help an old man cross off the last entry on his bucket list.
Microids
Syberia 3 became available in Europe today, boasting a price tag of £29.99. The reviews on Steam are, unfortunately, mixed, and its not only because of the bad voice acting and lip-sync in the trailer. And I here I was, thinking we kind of lowered our standards in the recent months anyway, at least as far as the whole lip-sync thing goes.
The reviews on speak of bad controls, and glitches. The complaints are pouring in that it just does not look good - for a 2017 game anyway. But we saw that coming, or at least . One thing everyone agrees on, the story is intriguing.
