Indie studio Lunar Games has unveiled My Father Lied, a first-person point-and-click adventure filled with eerie Lovecraftian influences. Drawing inspiration from 7,000 years of Mesopotamian history, the game follows Huda, a woman searching for the truth behind her father’s disappearance two decades ago.
Unlike conventional detective narratives, My Father Lied incorporates psychological horror, mythological narrative, and intricate puzzles into a slow-burning mystery.
In this game, players will uncover ancient ruins, abandoned temples and mysterious artifacts, along with uncovering unsettling secrets that distort the boundary between reality and the supernatural.
Gameplay
At its core, My Father Lied is an interactive mystery with a focus on exploration, puzzle-solving, and unraveling hidden lore.
Players move through hand-drawn 2D environments and 360° panoramic scenes, piecing together clues from scattered notes, ancient symbols, and cryptic voice recordings.
Puzzles range from logical conundrums to environmental puzzles, some of which are purely optional but provide greater insight into the game's underlying narrative.
Titled "Mighty Puzzles," these optional challenges provide additional lore and unlockable secrets as a reward to players, and are worth doing for those who want to delve deeper into the story.
Though there’s no fighting, tension is ratcheted up by the game’s creepy atmosphere, paranormal activity and unnerving sound design. Shadows shift where they shouldn’t, whispers permeate empty corridors, and unnerving visions allude to forces beyond human comprehension.

My Father Lied is scheduled to launch on PC via Steam in 2025, with iOS and Android versions planned for a later date.
