Stronghold: Warlords will feature a Free Build mode. The mode will let the players build their castle and its accompanying features unhindered by an enemy Lord.
Stronghold: Warlords' new Extended Gameplay video focuses on the game's Free Build mode in which the players can test their strongholds against challenging AI invasions.
The Free Build mode in Stronghold: Warlords gives the player access to near-unlimited resources where they can build their castle, customise its defences and finally launch wave after wave of invasions to put their creation to the test.
The Free Build mode is designed to be played in a bunch of different ways. The players get a selection of large open maps so they can build whatever they want.
As in the main campaign, skirmish mode and multiplayer - the titular Warlords mechanic - can also be used to help build a dream citadel, sending key resources and providing buffs to their castle economy.
The AI invasions can be customised and you can choose between a slew of unique siege armies. The players will able to test their castle walls against everything from squads of tribesmen and stealthy ninja to battalions of cavalry and armoured legions with powerful siege weapons.
The challenge can be further increased with invasion difficulty settings and the ability to add random events such as peasant revolts, moth infestations and dangerous roaming tigers.
Just like the original game, Warlords will offer a chance to create custom Free Build maps where you can add your own events, invasions and warlords to capture.
The Free Build mode will be available when Stronghold: Warlords launches on September 29. The game will be available via Steam .
