The wait is over for fans of EVE's sci-fi adventure. Shift Up has officially confirmed that a Stellar Blade sequel is in active development, according to their latest earnings report. The South Korean studio behind the acclaimed action game isn't just riding the wave of their breakout hit's success - they're doubling down on it.
"We are actively pursuing the franchise development of the 'Stellar Blade' IP and are currently developing a sequel to 'Stellar Blade,'" the company stated in their financial disclosure.
The sequel promises to expand beyond what made the original special. According to Shift Up, the follow-up "will inherit the action-packed nature of the original 'Stellar Blade' while incorporating an expanded worldview and enhanced gameplay, further solidifying its position as a franchise IP." That sounds like they're not just making more of the same - they're thinking bigger.
This announcement comes at a time when Stellar Blade is absolutely crushing it financially. Royalties from Stellar Blade amounted to ₩62.8 billion ($43.2 million), proving that EVE's journey resonated with players worldwide. The game's success has been bolstered by consistent post-launch support, including the popular Nier: Automata collaboration DLC that had fans losing their minds.
With the PC version launching earlier this year to strong reception, Shift Up is clearly positioning Stellar Blade as their flagship franchise. The timing couldn't be better - the original game found its audience, critics praised its combat system and visual design, and now there's genuine anticipation for what comes next.
For a studio that started with mobile games, transforming into a console powerhouse with a confirmed sequel in the works represents a remarkable evolution. EVE's story isn't over - it's just getting started.
