Valve have revealed the final nominees for The Steam Awards 2018 and the dates for voting, winner announcements and start of their annual Winter Sale. Voting and Sale will go live on 20 December 2018 before closing on 3 January 2019.
Steam is set to become a busy place in the next few weeks after Valve officially confirmed nominees for the Steam Awards and start dates for voting and Steam Winter Sale 2018.
Players will get to choose between more than 30 games in 8 categories from 30 December 2018 to 3 January 2019.
The all-important Game of the Year nominates five titles picked by the Steam community in earlier votes. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Monster Hunter World, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Hitman 2 and Assassin's Creed Odyssey will battle to become the best game in 2018 on the platform.
A couple of odd choices we would say given that some of these nominees don't even have positive reviews on Steam.
The Best Environment category also has a couple of odd ones. CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is on the list and we all know that Geralt's last adventure released almost four years ago. Same goes for Dark Souls 3 which released in 2016 and still made the list.
Other nominees include survival game Subnautica which is free to download on Epic Store, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Ubisoft's Far Cry 5.
Players will get to vote for Wolfeinstein II: The New Colossus, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Hearts of Iron IV, Sid Meier's Civilization VI and Fallout 4 in the category for the Best Alternate History.

As for the Winter Steam Sale 2018, it will go live and end on the same dates as the votes. You can expect some pretty big discounts like always and we'll make sure to include some of the best bargains in one piece once the sale starts.
Until then, you can also check GOG's that started just yesterday and it features some great titles at discounted prices.
