Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is one of the best-received games from that particular universe so when the announcement about the remake was made, it was understandable that people were hyped out of their mind.
Unfortunately, the game ended up in development hell and ultimately the troubles Embracer Group ran into by blindly purchasing studios left and right seem to have put the final nail in the game's coffin.
Following the dismissal of Aspyr, Sony ended up scrubbing their channels of any KOTOR-related content, which was an ominous portent for any fans who wanted to see the game.
Now, the game reportedly has no one working on it. To put it mildly, the project has been shelved and to be a bit more realistic, it seems like it will never be released unless a miracle acquisition happens and someone else gets the rights to the game.
This info was revealed by Jeff Grubb whose insider knowledge is usually on-point.
Furthermore, the previous signs of trouble at KOTOR's homefront only serve to corroborate his claims that there is currently no development on the remake whatsoever.
The statement that no one is currently working on the remake happens at the 31:20 time stamp, if you want to fast forward to the exact bit of information.
