One of the most famous never released games, Star Wars Battlefront 2, is once again making rounds with contradicting reports coming from people who worked on it.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 from 2005 is one of the high points in the franchise as far as video gaming goes and the original two games were much beloved by the players, unlike the two that came a decade later.

EA had ruined them with microtransactions and loot boxes at the very beginning so there was never even any talk about Battlefront 3 after 2017, which is the direct opposite of what happened in the mid-2000s.

Battlefront 2 back then was well-received by critics and players alike, which begged the question of when Battlefront 3 would happen. It almost did but was apparently cancelled by EA just before being finished.

Michael Barclay, who is currently the lead designer at Naughty Dog, recently claimed Battlefront 3 was "cancelled two yards from the finish line", adding that the gamers don't know what they were robbed of.

With the fond memories of the first two Battlefront games, this narrative seems plausible, although a few former QA testers claim the story was a bit different.

One claims that the game was too much of a mess at the time they worked on it in QA and would not be profitable to salvage and finish from that point onwards.

Another person in the same thread claims they knew someone who worked on the game and it was "much more than two yards away" from release.

Naturally, there is the matter of opting to trust a developer who isn't anonymously posting versus two Reddit posts that can't be verified due to said anonymity but it is hard to believe EA would cancel a game two yards before the payday. If there is any aspect of that company you can rely on, it is their love for money.
