Star Wars Battlefront 2 may not get any more support but it's a free-to-keep AAA game so there isn't really much reason to say no to Epic Games' offer.
DICE and EA have gone through a ton of controversy in recent years. In fact, there was so much backlash that Battlefield V controversy pretty much eclipsed that of Star Wars: Battlefront 2.
That said, you should definitely remember that EA tried to force players into paying massive amounts of money to gamble on loot boxes that were baked into the progression system of the game and came up with weak excuses why the game was designed that way. This dumpster fire also spawned the most downvoted Reddit comment ever .
Fast forward to the present, the game no longer has dev support but the negative sides have pretty much been eliminated as well. Those still playing it claim that Battlefront 2 is now an enjoyable experience and recommend it to others.
Still, one could consider it to be a dead game and not worth the money investment which is why Epic Games Store 's next freebie is probably the exact thing you needed, provided you were thinking about giving the game a try.
That said, you can't claim Star Wars: Battlefront 2 just yet as it's the next weeks free to keep title. The offer will start on January 14, 2021.
In the meantime, you can pick Crying Suns at no cost. It may not be AAA but it also doesn't have a list of failures on its tail.
