Cloud Imperium Games kicked off Star Citizen's Free Fly event, which means you can try the game's 3.7.1. version out for free until 3 November. Players have five ships to choose from, which includes the recently-added Banu Defender.
If you're looking to join the Star Citizen universe, or just plan to give your hardware a good warm-up, it's probably perfect timing, as the update 3.7 is still fresh. You can learn about the changes that came with 3.7 below.
So, the Free Fly event gives you a choice of five ships in total - Consolidated Outland Mustang Alpha, Banu Defender, Roberts Space Industries Aurora MR, Drake Cutlass Black, and the Avenger Titan.
Overall, it's a nice assortment that lets you try out different flavours of Star Citizen's space flight, from smaller and more nimble transports to more sluggish ones. If you're more combat-oriented, then Banu Defenders should be your cup of tea.
"Meet the Banu Defender, a multi-crew fighter whose patchwork design highlights technology from a variety of species. The Defender makes the ideal companion to large freighters or vulnerable convoys, keeping them and their payloads well guarded. Every Banu merchant knows an investment in defense is an investment in their livelihood."
You're looking at a ship that's best operated by two people, where one can control the shield, leaving the other pilot to focus on flying and gunning others down. As you can see, it's quite the looker too.
In case you've missed it, here's a quick recap of the highlights of Star Citizen 3.7 - the update brought caves and lucrative mining opportunities, ship rental kiosks, means for first-person mining, mission sharing and a few ships, one of which is the aforementioned Banu Defender.
