GSC Game World, developers of the upcoming shooter Stalker 2 have confirmed that the reveal trailer which premiered at the Xbox Games Showcase was not in-game footage. Instead, it is a target render which the devs are aiming to deliver.
Stalker fans rejoice! A brand new, open-world Stalker game is currently in development and it is coming to PC and Xbox Series X. Yesterday, the developer GSC Game World officially revealed the first trailer for the game, showcasing Chernobyl's grim locations.
As you can see below, the footage looks great and it is safe to say that the devs managed to capture the feel and atmosphere of earlier Stalker games. However, it looks like the trailer does not show actual in-game graphics. Instead, it is a target render, a demonstration of the visual fidelity that the developers aim to deliver in the final product. Here's what GSC Game World had to say on the matter:
"The trailer demonstrates the level of graphics and atmosphere we are aiming to achieve on release."
To be fair, at this point in development, it does not really matter that the devs decided to showcase the final graphics if we indeed get the game that looks as good as the footage in the trailer.
Stalker 2 will be coming sometime in 2021 to PC and Xbox Series X. The game will also be available on Game Pass on its release. As for the PlayStation port, there is no additional information about that, just yet.
