Square Enix is celebrating Final Fantasy XVI's one year anniversary. To celebrate the event, the game's director, Hiroshi Takai shared a heartfelt message for the game's community.
In the anniversary message, Hiroshi Takai also mentioned a brief update on the game's PC port. The game's director assured players that they are working on the PC port; however, they could not announce a release date yet.
Since its release for the PlayStation 5, the game's PC port was first announced to be in development back in May 2023. Following up on the PC port update, Square Enix has clearly indicated that they are working on it in their recent message for players on the game's first year anniversary.
Final Fantasy Director shares PC port update
Recently, Square Enix announced their plans to focus on an aggressive approach with multi-platform releases for most upcoming projects. This new decision was made to cope up with their declining sales, which has been affecting their current financial status.
While Final Fantasy XVI is a PlayStation 5 exclusive game, Square Enix has confirmed their plans to make the game available for PC as they are working on the most-awaited PC port.
Final Fantasy XVI's main director Hiroshi Takai shared his heartfelt gratitude towards players for playing their game since its release one year ago. Furthermore, he assured fans that they are working on the PC port which aligns with their new decision of making their games available for multiple platforms.
Final Fantasy XVI devs Creative Studio 3 is working on the PC port. The PC port will also include the Rising Tide and Echoes of the Fallen DLCs. Unfortunately, Square Enix and Creative Studio 3 have not announced a set release date for the title.
While the PC port has been announced, there has been no mention of an Xbox port. However, as Square Enix decides to make their upcoming projects available for release on multiple platforms, we can hopefully see future Final Fantasy titles to become available on Xbox consoles.
