Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will have a little darker story and it's the next big chapter for the franchise, says Bill Roseman of Marvel Games. He compares the sequel to Star Wars: Empires Strikes Back.
A couple of weeks ago, Insomniac Games have announced Marvel's Spider-Man 2, a direct sequel to their critically acclaimed Spider-Man from 2018. We've learned that the game is targeting 2023 and will feature another Marvel character - Venom.
Insomniac Games are also targeting a more mature story this time around according to Head of Creative at Marvel Games Bill Rosemann. Speaking in the recent episode of "This Week In Marvel" podcast , Rosemann compared the upcoming sequel with the Star Wars franchise.
"If Marvel's Spider-Man was Star Wars, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is kind of our Empire Strikes Back," he said. "It gets a little darker. It's the next big chapter."
The official details about Marvel's Spider-Man 2 are pretty scarce so we don't really know what the actual story will be but judging by the trailer, Kraven the Hunter and Venom will probably be the main two villains.
This opens up a lot of possibilities for a cool and pretty dark story and we don't have any doubts that Insomniac Games will absolutely nail it as they did with the first game and smaller Miles Morales release.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is expected to launch sometime in 2023 exclusively on PlayStation 5 console.
