Sony have registered a trademark for Soho Engine in Europe. Soho Engine is a reference to British developer Team Soho, who brought us beloved action-adventure The Getaway.
One of the most iconic PlayStation 2 exclusives, The Getaway, may get a sequel in the upcoming years. Sony have officially registered a trademark for Soho Engine in Europe . If you're wondering how is this news connected to The Getaway, well, British developer Team Soho are the creators of The Getaway.
At the moment, we do not have any additional details about the trademark or what exactly Sony plan to do with Soho Engine. Team Soho closed 18 years ago in 2002 but The Getaway creative director, Brendan McNamara, founded Team Bondi that worked on LA Noire but was also closed in 2011.
Whether Sony plan to bring back this once-beloved franchise from the dead, it remains to be seen. Earlier this year, Mike Rouse, who was a vehicle artist for The Getaway stated that he has heard from his colleagues at Sony that there's is something The Getaway-related in the works . Could this be just a coincidence? Sure, but to us, it does not seem that way and we would not be surprised if Sony soon announces another The Getaway game.
If such a game does indeed exists, then it will be interesting to see the scope of the project and who is at the helm. Sony's AAA blockbuster-like The Getaway game certainly sounds fantastic but don't get your hopes up just yet, at least until we get more solid info or legit leaks.
