It looks like Sony have already set a new date for the delayed PlayStation 5 games showcase, which was scheduled to run this Thursday, June 4 2020. Rumour has it the new date is June 12.
Yesterday, we reported that Sony's major PlayStation 5 event could be delayed due to ongoing protests in the United States. Shorty after that, Sony officially announced that the long-awaited event won't take place this Thursday as initially planned.
"We have decided to postpone the PlayStation 5 event scheduled for June 4", the company wrote. "While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard."
Sony did not set a new date for the event but according to the latest rumours, the event could take place next week. Keep in mind that the rumour comes from 4chan, which means you should take it with a grain of salt. That being said, it would not be the first time that 4chan rumours and leaks are actually true.
"It seems that the new date chosen by the company to officially present the console and its first games is Friday 12 June 2020," it's written in the post on 4chan. "And even some newspapers are receiving new updated information on the new presentation date right in these hour. I obtained this information through a source in close contact with the Sony Playstation marketing department."
Whether this is indeed true it remains to be seen but it would not surprise us if Sony have internally set a new date for the event. Again, until we get an official confirmation, this is all just speculation.
