Gamepires' popular survival shooter SCUM has just received a new patch with a bunch of fixes and the dev also announced that as the game approaches 1 million sold copies, they'll have a "luxurious gift for the community" next week.
SCUM now boasts a few new damage modifiers, which will allow for greater server customisation, just in case you've been left wanting for more hardcore PvP or PvE experience. Gamepires also added greater control of day and night cycles, with their start times and speed found in ServerSettings.ini.
Acting on players' request, SCUM now boasts auto-walk, "initiated by pressing shift and forward key (shift+W by default..PRAISE THE LORD)". I've got to admit though, I don't think I've ever enjoyed patch notes as much as this and long may it continue.
Two new chests have been added - improved wooden and improvised metal chests. Improved wooden chests come with 15x15 room, while metal ones pack 20x20. As you'd expect, metal chests cannot be destroyed.
Item auto destruct distance and timer have been doubled and the servers will check every 20 minutes whether there's anyone within 100m. If not, the item will self destruct, and the same goes if the timer passes the 60 minute limit, regardless of whether there's anyone around. Singleplayer will now save nearby items and their number has been increased to 100 in 150m radius.
SCUM has finally received cal.357 ammo and while there currently aren't any guns that can shoot it, the cover photo and "luxurious gift" should be enough of a hint. I'm guessing we're looking at a Desert Eagle, a gun that could shoot rockets if you wanted, let alone cal.357. Nevertheless, it's a nice touch by Gamepires and the love goes both ways, quite deservedly so.
It appears though as if many players are anxious to see vehicles added to the game, although some don't seem to share the opinion. There's requests for implementing fishing as well, although my personal favourite has to be taming horses and donkeys. Seriously Gamepires, that may actually be fun.
