SNK Corporation announced that Samurai Shodown will be released on Xbox Series X, with strong hints that the release date is just a few months away.
Samurai Shodown is currently available on pretty much all the possible platforms right now, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia and PC via Epic Games Store.
It seems like SNK are looking to increase the player base further by making Samurai Shodown available on another platform - Xbox Series X, where it will be released at some point during Winter 2020/21.
Considering the console itself is going to be released during holiday season 2020, it is safe to assume SNK's fighter will be out around the same time. After all, the holiday season gets everyone into the spending mood and with Covid-19 pandemic showing no signs of letting up, many people will celebrate with their gaming systems as opposed to large groups of people, which should be an incentive for game devs to release their titles as close to the time window as possible.
The initial press release didn't explicitly note whether the owners of the game on Xbox One would be able to upgrade for free on Xbox Series X but there are only mentions of "getting it" on the next-gen console.
Just like before, Samurai Shodown will feature local multiplayer for up to two people or online multiplayer for up to 10. Interestingly enough, SNK didn't mention whether they would release the game on PS5 just yet.
