Samurai Shodown, which has already had a nice run on all mainstream platforms, is also coming to next-gen consoles and now the release date for Xbox Series X/S has been announced.

Samurai Shodown is coming to Xbox Series X/S on March 16, 2021. It will be running "at a smooth 120 FPS" so the experience should feel better and input lag lower than ever.

Considering this is an Xbox Series X/S announcement, you are probably already expecting the upgraded version to cost no extra money if you already own the game on Xbox One and that will indeed be the case, thanks to the platform's smart delivery system.

Furthermore, the game is going to get a physical edition for XSX so those who haven't purchased it but wish to, may want to take this option. It will also be available on the regular digital store, if you are not big on physical editions.

Compared to the rest of the games in the series, Samurai Shodown is set in 18th century Japan, three years before the original game. There are thirteen returning characters as well as two guests.

Technically, Shizumaru Hisame is a Samurai Shodown character since he was the protagonist of the third game but he wasn't in the original. The other guest character is Gongsun Li from Honor of Kings mobile game. She is the character pictured above.

Considering this is pretty much the same game that was on Xbox One, Season Pass 1 and 2 characters are not included in the base game so you will need to purchase them on top of Samurai Shodown.
