Samson is one of the more intriguing PC releases on the horizon this spring. Developed by Liquid Swords, a studio made up of veterans from Avalanche Studios, Rockstar Games, CD Projekt Red, DICE, and more, it's a focused, debt-driven crime game set in the fictional city of Tyndalston. Think less GTA VI in scope and more a gritty, 90s-flavoured action game built around brawler combat, car chases, and a pressure system that never lets up. It launches on PC via Steam on 8 April for $25, with console ports to follow later.
Now the system requirements are in, and they're fairly reasonable, though an SSD is mandatory across both tiers, so bear that in mind.
Minimum requirements
To get the game running at all, you'll need at least an Intel Core i5-10505 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, paired with a GTX 1070 or RX 5600 with 6GB of VRAM, 16GB of RAM, and 15GB of SSD storage.
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 10/11
- Processor: Intel Core i5-10505 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: Nvidia® 1070 GTX 6 GB / AMD Radeon™ RX 5600 6 GB
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 15 GB available space
- Additional notes: This game requires an SSD hard drive
Recommended requirements
For a smoother experience, Liquid Swords recommend stepping up to an Intel i5-11400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600 XT, with an RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT at 8GB of VRAM. RAM and storage requirements stay the same at 16GB and 15GB, respectively, with Windows 10/11 and DirectX 12 required across both tiers.

Given that Samson is built in Unreal Engine 5, the requirements are notably accessible - particularly at the recommended end, where a mid-range card from a couple of generations back will do the job. With UE5's historically patchy optimisation track record, it's an encouraging sign that Liquid Swords aren't asking for the world.
