Liquid Swords have dropped a new Samson: A Tyndalston Story gameplay trailer ahead of the game's 8 April launch, and if this is what brawling and vehicular combat look like in the finished product, we may have a proper gem on our hands.

With just under a month to go until Samson launches on PC via Steam at $24.99, Liquid Swords are clearly confident enough in what they've built to let the gameplay do the talking. The new trailer does exactly that, putting two of the game's core pillars front and centre: raw, physical melee combat and hard-hitting vehicular mayhem.

The brawling looks genuinely great

This is the bit that stands out most. The fist fights shown in the trailer have real weight to them. Enemy hit reactions have stunning animations to the point you can really feel their pain as their body flies backwards.

Honestly, the whole thing carries that gritty, grounded quality that Samson has been showcasing from the first trailer. It looks less like a video game combat system and more like a proper scrap in a back alley between rival gangs.

For a game without guns, the melee system is going to carry a lot of the experience, and on this evidence, Liquid Swords appear to have delivered.

Vehicular combat straight out of a Hollywood action film

The trailer also gives us another glimpse of the game's spectacular car chase sequences. Samson is seen smashing his vehicle into a rival gang's car with enough force to flip it completely, the kind of moment that would not feel out of place in a Fast and Furious set piece. I don't know about you, but this gives me strong cinematic vibes with rain-slicked and grimy streets as you speed 100+ KPH, smashing enemies until their cars blow up in true Michael Bay style.

Between the brawling, the vehicular combat, and the exploration of a dense, character-driven world, Samson is shaping up to be one of the more exciting PC releases of the spring, at least for yours truly.

Also, at $24.99, the risk of trying it is minimal.
